About the event

The Shirlyn Miller Lecture in Human Rights and Public Understanding will take place at the Mauthe Center on October 17 at 7:00pm. Our speaker will be Jim Wallis, the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Chair in Faith and Justice at Georgetown University (longer bio below), speaking on the topic of his latest book, "The False White Gospel." This event is free and open to the public, but seating will be limited, so plan to arrive early.

Jim Wallis is a writer, teacher, preacher and justice advocate who believes the gospel of Jesus must be transformed from its cultural and political captivities, and always be “good news” to the poor and oppressed. He is a New York Times bestselling author, public theologian, renowned preacher and commentator on ethics and public life. He is the inaugural holder of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Chair in Faith and Justice at the McCourt School of Public Policy…
