About the event

"Each generation inherits the task of shaping its own era, of guiding history to become a place where the dignity of every person is safeguarded, justice is promoted and fraternity is made possible. Yet every era also runs the risk of creating an inhumane and more unjust world." Beginning with these words in his encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV argues that humanity faces such a crossroads with the rapid development of AI. In this panel discussion, cosponsored by Phoenix Catholic, the Diocese of Green Bay, and the Mauthe Center, we will address the encyclical's arguments about AI and confront central questions of human dignity. What is it to be truly human? How can we ensure that modern technology contributes to a more humane and just world?
